The U.S. Embassy’s Political Officer, based in Mauritius, Mr Maroof Ahmed met with CEPS accredited members and Unisey students over a round table discussion on under the theme “Human Rights & Democracy.”

Mr Ahmed chaired the meeting and explained that democracy, human rights and trafficking in persons are fundamental part of the U.S foreign policy.

Members present, raised various issues including questions on the way that information is gathered by the embassy in the process of compiling reports released by the U.S, namely the annual Human Rights Report on Seychelles.

The meeting was attended by Gender, Rights and Governance Mrs Monica Servina and other CEPS board members.
