Strengthening Community Resilience Together

CEPS came together with key partners at Constance Ephelia Resort for the National Workshop on Strengthening the Role of Civil Society in Community Resilience, a day dedicated to building stronger, more prepared communities across Seychelles.

The workshop brought together 30 representatives from CEPS member organisations alongside district administration, community development stakeholders, and Red Cross Seychelles, for a day of powerful dialogue and knowledge-sharing. The event was organised in partnership with UNDP Seychelles and the Department of Risk and Disaster Management (DRDM).

Building Resilience from the Ground Up

Discussions centred on disaster preparedness, risk management, and the critical role civil society organisations play in supporting communities before, during, and after a crisis. Participants explored how local organisations, often the first point of contact during emergencies, can be better equipped to respond effectively and coordinate with government and humanitarian partners.

Throughout the day, participants shared real experiences and lessons learned from past disaster response efforts, alongside practical tools and frameworks that can be applied within their own communities. The exchange of perspectives across different sectors, from grassroots organisations to national risk management bodies, made for a rich and meaningful dialogue.

A Shared Commitment

The workshop reinforced a simple but powerful message: community resilience is a shared responsibility. By strengthening the connections between civil society, government agencies, and international partners like UNDP, Seychelles is building a stronger foundation for how communities prepare for and recover from crises.

CEPS extends its thanks to UNDP Seychelles, the Department of Risk and Disaster Management, Red Cross Seychelles, and all participating member organisations for their contributions to a productive and insightful day.
