Friday 14th November 2014
November 14th, an official United Nations Day, is a significant date in the diabetes calendar because it marks the birthday of the man who co-discovered insulin, Frederick Banting alongside Charles Best in 1922. Diabetes is a serious disease that imposes life-long demands on people living with the disease and their families. What makes the pandemic particularly menacing is that throughout much of the world, it remains hidden. Up to half of all people with diabetes globally remain undiagnosed.
This year the slogan for World Diabetes Day is “Diabetes: protect our future” focusing on healthy living and the key messages of the campaign include:
– Make healthy food the easy choice
– Healthy eating: make the right choice
– Healthy begins with breakfast
Most cases of type 2 diabetes can be prevented and the serious complications of diabetes can be avoided through healthy lifestyles and living environments that encourage and facilitate healthy behavior.
I wish to call on all people with diabetes to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Healthy meals including eating plenty of fruits, drinking plenty of water and doing regular exercises will ensure a normal
body weight.
This will definitely help to protocol.
