LUNGOS CEO Mr Steve Lalande, is in Johannesburg attending the SADC preparatory workshop for the 11th EDF under the theme “Peace & Security.
In preparation for the workshop, Mr Lalande noted that “Peace and Security is one area, out of all the thematics that should include CSOs, as many conflicts involve non state actors. Furthermore, NGOS do engage at various levels in conflict prevention, early warning systems, mediation processes, humanitarian efforts and peacebuilding. The other RECS are quite advanced in incorporating non state actors, therefore Seychelles civil society should also play an active on levels of engagement. Our involvement in this meeting is crucial and I hope to participate actively in the various debates”
